Itinerary for your Pre-Programme
Day 1: Arrival, Panama City
Spend the night at a hotel in Panama City including breakfast the next morning.
Day 2: Panama City - Colón, Embarkation
This morning, we drive half an hour to arrive at Miraflores Locks. There is no better place than the locks of Miraflores to discover the Panama Canal and understand how this marvel of engineering is operated. Two observation platforms, one on the ground floor and one on the fourth floor, enable the visitor to view the huge ships passing through, and the ballet of locomotives keeping them straight in the locks with only a few inches left on each side. The visitor centre uses interactive displays to explain the history, incredible engineering and importance of the canal.
You will then be transferred to Gamboa Rainforest Resort where you will embark on a speed boat cruise of the canal, darting past massive supertankers and into the landscapes of Lake Gatun. Panama boasts one of the richest ecosystems in the world, home to exotic wildlife such as monkeys, crocodiles, toucans, sloth, eagles and turtles. You’ll then enjoy a buffet lunch at outdoor restaurant Don Caiman with views of the Chagres River and the Panama Canal. A one-hour drive brings us to the cruise terminal in Colón in time for embarkation.
Please note that the order of sights might vary.
The price includes one hotel night in Panama City, a transfer from the hotel in Panama City to the pier in Colón, entrance to the locks at Miraflores, a motorboat ride on the Panama Canal, a buffet lunch and an English-speaking guide.
