Machala, with a population of approximately 250,000 inhabitants, is the capital of El Oro province and is known as the “Capital of the Banana” as the ‘World Fair of the Banana’ is held there during the third week of September.  

Disembark from the ship and head towards a local fruit and vegetable market where guests will oberve the wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables that can be found in Ecuador as well as the local culture and customs surrounding some of them.  

The next stop will be at the archeological and paleontological Casa de la Cultura Museum, located in the center of Machala. It contains, at least, 200 archeological pieces and 500 paleontological pieces. It is considered the most complete museum in the city and it narrates the history of the zone thought its vestiges.  

Next, the tour continues to Zoila Ugarte park, where some free time is made available here to browse the shops lining the internal area of the park.  

Finally, drive back to the quayside.
