This bicycle tour with a knowledgeable local guide explores the central island of the Îles de la Madeleine (Cap-Aux-Meules) archipelago. Main attractions include panoramic views, red cliffs, a fishing wharf, many beautiful colourful local houses and a lighthouse. A box lunch with local food products is provided during the excursion.

The guide shares insights about local life, wildlife, birding, geology and history. The rhythm of the tour is adapted to the group´s pace and the weather forecast of the day.

La Vernière is a wooden church first built in 1876 and now classified as a historical monument. It is the second-largest wooden church in North America, and has been struck by lightning several times over the years. The wood used to rebuild the church each time there was damage was taken from shipwrecks and blessed before construction ensued - reflecting Madelinot cultural heritage.

The north coast of the island has spectacularly steep, jagged cliffs that are also vulnerable to erosion. Every year the Islands lose an average two feet of shoreline.

We eat our lunch on picnic tables at La Cote and sample various local food products, including smoked fish, cheese, salad, and sweets.

Exploring Iles de la Madeleine by bicycle is the best way to feel the local rhythm, meet its people, see the wildlife, and listen to the real sound of the Islands.
