Albaola is a non-profit association whose aim is to safeguard the maritime heritage and the traditional trades of the sea, which are almost lost. In their case, they build vessels of heritage value in front of visitors, among them the nao San Juan, a 16th century whaler, whose construction work has won the patronage of UNESCO.

But as well as keeping the heritage alive and opening its doors to anyone who wants to participate, they are also concerned with passing on knowledge to future generations. For that purpose, they have created an international school of shipwrights' carpentry where apprentices from all over the world come to this small corner of the Basque Country to learn this almost lost trade, for 3 years, free of charge.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AWARD 2018, DENOMIDA ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC INTEREST IN 2019, EGURTEK award, UNESCO sponsorship, and for every €10 invested, they have managed to give back up to €10 to our environment. 90% of workers and suppliers are from the region.

After the visit we will enjoy a local products tasting.

Don't miss this unique experience!
