If you're seeking fun and adventure, time spent exploring the protected waters around Icy Strait and Port Frederick in a kayak is not to be missed. Your adventure begins with a short walk along the dock to the kayak centre, where you will be given a safety briefing and outfitted with your spray skirt and life jacket, before slipping into your two-person kayak. Single kayaks are available for guests with experience kayaking.

Accompanying you will be a knowledgeable guide, who teaches you about native Tlingit culture and the authentic Alaskan village of Hoonah. While paddling to beautiful Pitt Island and around the Hoonah waterfront, you will have the chance to view humpback and killer whales, seals, sea lions and other marine wildlife in their natural, pristine environment.

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and wonderful opportunity to get close to some incredible creatures. However, not every animal you see will be in the water. Keep your eyes on the trees for resident eagles that live nearby and survive in and around these same waters. Remember to bring your camera, warm clothes, shoes that will keep your feet dry - and most importantly, your sense of adventure!
