Itinerary

Day 1 – Flåm Mountain Railway and Flåm village

Take the train from Bergen or Oslo station to Myrdal station over 850 metres high in the mountains. This is the boarding point for the Flåm Mountain Railway, one of the highlights of this tour.

The vintage train will weave its way down from the mountains and into the valley towards the village of Flåm. The scenic journey takes about an hour and includes a brief stop at Kjosfossen Waterfall for you to take photos.

In the summer months, if you’re lucky, you might spot a mythical huldra singing and dancing at the waterfall, the Nordic equivalent to a forest nymph. In reality, it is traditionally a student from the Norwegian ballet school doing her summer job!

We’ll then arrive in the village of Flåm where you’ll spend the night at a hotel. You can visit Flåm Railway Museum, head up to Stegastein point for views over Aurlandsfjord, or enjoy drinks and dinner at Ægir brewery pub.

Day 2 – UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord

Following breakfast and checking out of your hotel by the afternoon, it’s time to enjoy a two-hour boat cruise of Aurlandsfjord and narrow UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, ending at Gudvangen. A short bus ride through Nærøydalen valley leads us to the village of Voss where you can catch the train back to Bergen or Oslo.

Practical information

  • Three possible routes: Bergen – Bergen, Bergen – Oslo, or Oslo – Bergen. Please click here for timetable information.

  • Tours in spring and summer (May – Sep) use a modern hybrid electric boat for the fjord cruise while tours in autumn and winter (Oct – Apr) use a classic tour boat
