Stretch your legs on a safe gravel road through beautiful mountain, river, and fjord scenery.
Hear local stories about the fjord’s history from your guide.
Finish with a delicious and satisfying meal at the idyllic Urke Port House. You’ve earned it!
This truly beautiful 4-5km hike starts with a ferry crossing to the other side of the fjord. From here, we walk 2 km along the fjord to the village of Urke, before entering the Urke valley. We’ll follow the course of the Urke River up the valley surrounded by the Sunnmøre Alps, before continuing down to the port of Urke.
Along the way, your guide will share stories about the mountains, the fjord, and the history of the small villages of the Hjørundfjord.
We finish at the Urke Port House for a light meal that includes different hams, potato salad, a flat bread, a soft drink, coffee, tea, and lefse. From here, a boat will take you back to Sæbø. The boat ride, which lasts around 15 minutes, is a beautiful end to the excursion.
Please note: Some of the route is on asphalt and some is on a gravel road, but both are good to walk on. Around the shieling (old summer farm), we leave the road for a little bit, but it is still quite easy on foot.
