Explore the wonders of Isfjorden, Svalbard’s second-longest fjord
Learn more about the archipelago’s industrial history as you explore a handful of local mining sites
Look out for Arctic wildlife in the towering cliffs and crystal-clear waters that surround the fjord
Embark on an unforgettable adventure on Isfjorden aboard an open, sturdy Polarcirkel boat. This extraordinary journey will immerse you in the rich history of Spitsbergen and Svalbard, offering an unparalleled exploration of this Arctic wonderland.
Before departing, you’ll be equipped with the appropriate attire to brave the elements. Once ready, we’ll venture out into the fjord, with the precise route carefully chosen by the knowledgeable guide, taking weather conditions into account. Along the way, we’ll stop at various monuments that bear witness to the historical legacy of both Norwegian and Soviet mining operations. Time and weather permitting, we might also make a shore visit to Hiorthamn, a site that hummed with coal-mining activity in the early 20th century.
Between May and the end of July, the majestic Diabasodden cliffs come alive with a symphony of migratory birds from around the globe. As we sail, keep your eyes peeled – if you’re lucky, you may also catch a glimpse of a whale in the surrounding waters.
Excursion is subject to a minimum number of participants.
