About the ship

Purpose-built as an expedition cruise ship, MS Fram is an exceptional base camp for explorers. On board, comfort is a top priority, so after a day of exploration you can relax in a hot tub, dine in your choice of two restaurants or at the outdoor BBQ and catch up with your fellow guests with a cocktail in hand as you watch the scenery glide past in the Explorer Lounge & Bar. In the Science Centre, at the heart of the ship, you’ll discover more about the places you sail to and listen to talks by the Expedition Team.

With key expedition features and technology, MS Fram is primed to bring you on a journey of discovery to our planet’s most alluring and unspoiled regions.

Engineered for adventure

MS Fram gets you closer to nature, creating an unforgettable expedition experience. The 2022 upgrade has injected a fresh Nordic look and feel across all seven decks, while exploration and learning remain front and centre. There's an expanded and improved Science Center, a larger fleet of small expeditions boats for off-ship exploration, upgraded lecture areas and the ability to stream Expedition Team talks to your cabin.

Designed to bring the outside in, take in panoramic views from the revamped Explorer Lounge & Bar, gym, sauna and hot tubs. Dine al fresco at the top-deck BBQ and savour local flavours in our signature onboard restaurants. Numerous artworks commissioned from local artists based around the Arctic adorn the interior, adding an extra sense of inspiration to your voyage.

Health and safety features

MS Fram has passed stringent safety tests and is accredited by Bureau Veritas (BV), a leading independent certification body. BV’s strict and thorough safety audit ensures the ship complies with industry and international best practices in terms of health, safety and hygiene. You can feel confident when you see the SafeGuard label, as this means your vessel met the highest standards to achieve certification. SafeGuard also entails following best practice guidelines with regard to hygiene and sanitation and limiting the spread of infectious diseases on board.

Onboard facilities

Interior

  • Interior and cabins: Fully refurbished from bow to stern in 2022, including the 125 cabins and suites, MS Fram’s interiors are bright and airy with a Nordic vibe.

Restaurants

  • Restaurant Aune: Social, informal and with an emphasis on the natural, Aune is MS Fram’s main dining area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner choices are influenced by the areas we explore and our own rich heritage, dating back to 1896.
  • Restaurant Lindstrøm: Named after Adolf Lindstrøm, the favourite chef of Norwegian polar heroes, Lindstrøm is our à la carte restaurant for fine dining. The exquisite lunches and dinners served are rooted in Norwegian fare, fused with modern cuisine.
  • Outdoor BBQ: Located on the top deck with spectacular views, the outdoor BBQ is the place to feast in the fresh air. Watch as our chefs prepare delicious meals often made with ingredients local to where we sail.

Panorama Lounge

  • Explorer Lounge & Bar: There’s no better place for a hand-crafted cocktail than the forward-facing, fully refurbished Explorer Lounge & Bar. Sit back, chat with your fellow explorers, and take in sweeping panoramic views through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Science Center

  • Science Center: Upgraded and expanded with even more tech and equipment in 2022, the Science Center is primed to deepen your understanding of the areas we explore. Join lectures, examine specimens through powerful microscopes, and chat to the Expedition Team. This is the beating heart of your onboard learning experience.

Social spaces

  • Reception: Head to the reception to check out the daily programme on the central bulletin board and find other important information about your expedition cruise experience.
  • Library: Take your pick from a selection of books available to guests while on board. You’ll find books relevant to your expedition cruise and biographies of some famous explorers.
