Planned itinerary Pre-programme

Day 1: Reykjavik / Arrival

Overnight at a centrally located hotel in Reykjavik, leaving the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 2: Reykjavik / Drive to Kerlingarfjöll

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to the Kerid Crater, one of the most dramatic volcanic craters in the country. Created by an explosion followed by implosion of its cone, it now has a lake at its bottom. Continue your journey to the Geysir Geothermal Area with its multitude of hot springs, where the most active geyser, Strokkur, spouts every few minutes. Lunch will be served in the area. After lunch, you continue your drive to Gullfoss Waterfall, known as the `Golden Waterfall´ - one of the most famous cascades. This formation is located where the river Hvítá drops 32 meters into two falls, creating an awesome spectacle. Next, you drive along Kjölur Highland Road, to the Highlands area of Iceland. Kerlingarfjöll is your destination, a tall mountain range which is a part of a large volcano of 100 km². You will stay overnight in the cozy Kerlingarfjöll Mountain Resort, with new rooms including private bathroom with shower.

Day 3: Kerlingarfjöll

Enjoy your day in the Icelandic Highlands with a hike around Hveradalir. The scenery offers mini-glaciers, steam springs and arctic vegetation which create one of the most unique combinations of colours you can imagine. The spectrum features hues ranging from white snow to stones of shining black obsidian. Enjoy your day in this wonderful area. Relax in the man-made natural baths located about 25 minutes by foot from the Resort. Again, you will overnight at Kerlingarfjöll.

Day 4: Kerlingarfjöll / Reykjavik, Embarkation

Depart from Kerlingarfjöll mountain range towards the Secret Lagoon, a natural hot spring located in the small village of Flúðir. The Secret Lagoon is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland, built in 1891. Have a unique experience relaxing in the 38-40°c water, enjoying the pool´s natural surroundings with magical steam rising into the air. Our next stop is  Fridheimar, for a fascinating look at Icelandic agriculture – local market greenhouse production. You will meet a family who will share the story of how their passion for horses and horticulture became the basis for their life´s work. Visit the greenhouse amidst the fragrant aroma of fresh tomato plants and the buzzing of worker bees. Then it’s `bon appetit´ and lunch is served. Following Fridheimar, you will head towards beautiful Thingvellir National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your visit to the park allows you to experience one of Iceland´s most spectacular landscapes. The area is surrounded by mountains which shelter a vast lava plain of green moss and wild flowers.

Your Pre-programme ends at the pier in time for embarkation.

Please note that the order of visited sites may vary.
