Enjoy an unforgettable safari during your stay in Senegal at the Bandia Nature Reserve. Here, you’ll get to see some of the big mammals of Africa living in a 3,500 ha. wildlife park, as well as huge baobabs, thorn trees and liana vines.
The Bandia Reserve, which is situated around 40 miles from Dakar, is one of Senegal’s real ecological gems. Here, conservationists have succeeded in reintroducing much of the marvellous native flora to the area, as well as some of Africa’s best-loved animals, many of which are threatened by demographic pressures and poaching.
On arrival you’ll meet your local guide and climb aboard a safari truck. During your experience, which will last around two hours, your expert guide will locate and reveal the wildlife to you. Whether that’s a shy giraffe, a vulture’s nest or a lone buffalo hiding in scrub, in this relaxed atmosphere you might also spot monkeys, gazelles, ostriches, rhinos, turtles, crocodiles, green monkeys, antelopes, jackals, giant African tortoises, and buffalos.
The reserve is also a sanctuary for birds, many of which can be observed in the savannah and around the lake, so make sure you bring your camera. In addition to the fauna and flora, you can see replica pyramids, complete with burial chambers.
At the end of your tour, you’ll enjoy a cold drink in the bar while overlooking a waterhole where buffaloes wallow and crocodiles lurk like floating logs. As you sip your drink and relax, you’ll see and hear monkeys chattering in the trees around you!
After your experience, a bus will return you to your hotel in Dakar.
