Arrival and departure information for The Svalbard Express

We are excited to welcome you on board MS Trollfjord to embark on a voyage deep into the Arctic Circle and the land of the Midnight Sun. Below you will find important arrival and departure information for all Svalbard Express voyages.

Please note that the information provided is subject to change, and some services described may not be included in your personal travel arrangements. For more information, please refer to your booking confirmation and individual itinerary. 

Arrival in Bergen

Transfer from airport to hotel

To get to the city centre, take the Flybussen (the official airport shuttle bus) from platform A5 in front of the arrivals hall. You can find the transfer times on the official timetable. Click here to see a map of the terminal.

Once on the bus, you'll need to show the driver your applicable transfer voucher, which is found in your travel documents.

Overnight in Bergen

You can check in to your hotel from 15:00, meaning the rest of the day is yours to explore Bergen. Breakfast will be provided at the hotel the following morning.

Embarking on MS Trollfjord 

After breakfast, a transfer bus (clearly marked with an ‘MS Trollfjord’ sign) will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Jektevik Terminal ready for check-in. Pick-up times are as follows:

• 11.00 transfer: all cabins on Deck 8* and Suites

• 11:15 transfer: all cabins on Deck 7*

• 11:30 transfer: all cabins on Deck 6*

• 11:45 transfer: all cabins on Deck 4*

*Your cabin number starts with the applicable deck number

Once checked in, all guests must attend a safety briefing in the Guest Lounge Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the terminal.

Once on board, lunch will be served between 12:00-14:00, and your cabin will be ready for you at 14:00. We’ll set sail at 14:30.

Departure from Bergen

Your journey on board MS Trollfjord will come to an end at Jektevik Terminal in Bergen at 07:00. A Flybussen transfer will take you from the terminal to the airport, and exact transfer times will be given on board before you disembark.

If you have a late flight and prefer to travel to the airport later, you can store your luggage at Jektevik Terminal and take any official Flybussen airport transfer at your convenience. You can find the official timetable here. Note that not all transfers listed may be included in your travel arrangements, so please see your personal travel itinerary for your specific transfers.

Transfer to terminal

To get to the Jektevik Terminal, take the Flybussen (the official airport shuttle bus) from platform A5 in front of the arrivals hall (click here for a map). You can find the transfer times on the official timetable. Once on the bus, you'll need to show the driver your applicable transfer voucher, which is found in your travel documents.

Embarking in Bergen

Check-in is open from 11:00. Once checked in, all guests must attend a safety briefing in the Guest Lounge Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the terminal. Before boarding, all half-voyage guests must go through passport control.

Once on board, lunch will be served between 12:00-14:00, and your cabin will be ready for you at 14:00. We’ll set sail at 14:30.

Activities in Longyearbyen (Day 7)

Your voyage on board MS Trollfjord will come to an end in Longyearbyen at 13:00. Once you disembark, a transfer will take you to Radisson Blu Polar Hotel, where you can check in from 15:00. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore as you wish.

At 19:00, we’ll collect you for your Arctic Wilderness evening excursion at Camp Barentz for a true Svalbard wilderness evening. There, you’ll enjoy a light dinner in a cosy wooden cabin. At 22:00, we’ll head back to your hotel in Longyearbyen.

Activities in Longyearbyen (Day 8)

After breakfast at your hotel, we’ll collect you at 08:15 for a mini adventure aboard hybrid-electric catamaran, MS Bard, to explore the magnificent landscapes of Isfjorden, Billefjord and the Nordenskiöld Glacier. You’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before returning to your hotel at approximately 15:15.

At 18:00, you’ll enjoy a dinner at Restaurant Nansen in the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel. 

Departure from Longyearbyen (Day 9)

After breakfast at your hotel, it’s time to say farewell to Svalbard. Check-out is at 12:00, but the hotel has a room to store luggage. 

Lunch will be served at Restaurant Nansen in Radisson Blu Polar Hotel at 12:00, after which a transfer will take you to the airport at Longyearbyen, from where you’ll fly home.

Transfer to hotel (Day 1)

From Longyearbyen airport, a transfer will take you to the Radisson Blue Polar Hotel, where check-in is available from 15:00. The hotel can store luggage for earlier arrivals. You are free to explore Longyearbyen for the rest of the afternoon.

Activities in Longyearbyen (Day 1)

At 19:00, we’ll collect you for your Arctic Wilderness evening excursion at Camp Barentz for a true Svalbard wilderness evening. There, you’ll enjoy a light dinner in a cosy wooden cabin. At 22:00, we’ll head back to your hotel in Longyearbyen.

Activities in Longyearbyen (Day 2)

Embarking on MS Trollfjord (Day 3)

After breakfast in the hotel, your final morning in Longyearbyen is yours to spend as you like. Check-out is available until 12:00, and luggage can be stored in the hotel if required.

Lunch will be served at Restaurant Nansen in Radisson Blu Polar Hotel at 12:00, after which a transfer will take you to MS Trollfjord, your home at sea for the next week. Settle in on board and we’ll set sail at 19:00.

Your journey on board MS Trollfjord will come to an end at Jektevik Terminal in Bergen at 7am. A Flybussen transfer will take you from the terminal to the airport, and exact transfer times will be given on board before you disembark.

Please note that all luggage must be cleared through customs on arrival in Bergen and all half-voyage guests must go through passport control upon arrival in Bergen.

If you have a late flight and prefer to travel to the airport later, you can store your luggage at Jektevik Terminal and take any official Flybussen airport transfer at your convenience.
