Let’s take a trip around the beautiful town of Ålesund and take in its captivating architecture. After a fire devastated the town in 1904, it was completely rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style, which is characterised by highly ornamental decoration.
We’ll begin at the pier, where our guide will lead us on a stroll through the streets of this enchanting town. You’ll visit the picturesque fishing harbour of Brosundet and Apotekertorget Square where a bronze statue of a fisher boy stands proudly.
From the attractive shopping street, take a moment to stop at the gallery of talented local born artist, Helge Bjørnsen. Select one of his complimentary signed prints to take home with you.
It’s then time to call in at the museum and national centre for Art Nouveau, Jugendstilsenteret. An eclectic collection of interiors, furniture, and other Art-Nouveau inspired objects will give you a fascinating insight into the history of this unique style of art.
