Safe to travel with us

We’re proud to announce that Professor of Medical Microbiology, Ørjan Olsvik has joined our company as an advisor. He’ll help us operate in the safest way possible. He has more than 10 years of international experience in infection control.

We’ll make sure that all necessary safety measures are put in place, and will continually adjust them as the situation changes. You can rest assured that we will provide the safest sailing possible so that you can enjoy your time with us. Welcome aboard!

What we do

Social distancing We are sailing with reduced passenger capacity, and have changed how we run our restaurants, landings, and facilities to give you more space.

Face masks All our crew wear face masks or face shields, and follow the strictest hand hygiene protocol.

Testing All crew need to go through regular temperature checks and will fill out a COVID-19 self-declaration form before being allowed on board.

Cleaning In addition to thorough daily cleaning, all cabins are fully disinfected after check-out. When one cruise ends, the ship is deep cleaned to prepare for the next adventure. All common areas are cleaned and fogged several times per day. We are using certified cleaning products that have been proven to eliminate COVID-19.

We’ll follow all required safety measures based on the latest guidelines from local authorities.

What you do

Self-declaration form You must confirm that you do not have any COVID-19 symptoms before being allowed to board, and you’ll need to fill out and send us a self-declaration form.

Fever scan and rapid test requirements Upon embarkation and outside our restaurants, you’ll go through a contactless scanner to record your temperature. You’ll need to agree to be tested by our medical team if the scan indicates that you have a high temperature.

Testing before expedition cruises Before embarkation, you will need to show a negative Covid-19 test, no older than 72 hours.

Face masks, social-distancing and hand sanitation You’ll need to wear a face mask during embarkation and disembarkation, in hallways, stairways, lecture halls, in the Science Center, and in any other places in which proper social distancing is not possible.

Please keep a minimum of one metre distance from fellow passengers, and frequently sanitise your hands.

Strict health protocols

Rules for entry into Norway

For our cruises in Norway, the Norwegian Government updates the official coronavirus travel restrictions continuously. You can find the most recent information here

Pre-boarding

To protect other guests and our crew, we need to ensure that those boarding our ships are Covid-clean and free from any infections. It is important that you are able to truthfully confirm that you have no symptoms of Covid-19 before you can board our ships.

Embarkation and disembarkation

EXPAND TO SEE VIDEO. Whenever you board or go off the ship, we ask all, whether guest or crew, to take a number of precautions, such as the use of face coverings, forehead scans and thorough hand hygiene.

Cleaning

We have always followed the highest standards when it comes to cleaning our ships. These are even more enhanced with new cleaning protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Social distancing

We have put down floor markings, increased in-cabin services, and adjusted how we operate so as to provide more socially distanced space for you when on board.

Face mask policy

Social distancing measures have been introduced on all our voyages. Our crew wear face masks or face shields in all public areas, when preparing meals in the galleys and when cleaning your cabin. Guests will also need to wear face masks in certain situations.

Food and beverage

Enjoying the delicious food onboard is a big part of your experience sailing with us, so we’ve reorganized our restaurants to ensure that you’ll be able to stay safe while dining.

The Explorer Lounge/bar will be open until midnight. Alcohol will only be available for table-service.

Kysten Fine Dining restaurant will be open from 15 June

Expedition Landings

When you’re on a nature landing, you’ll be able to walk freely within an area designated by your Expedition Team. You may remove your face mask as soon as you’re able to keep a safe distance from fellow passengers.

Symptoms on board

It’s our responsibility to make sure that all our guests and crew members are protected against infections when travelling with us. Therefore, if you develop symptoms of Covid-19 during the cruise, please self-isolate in your cabin and alert us straight away by calling the reception.

Medical team onboard

Our ships sailing along the Norwegian Coast have a nurse and a dedicated Health & Safety Officer on board. This team is at your service when you are travelling with us. When sailing along the Norwegian coastline, we’re never far from land and can quickly access the many onshore health services and hospitals if the need should arise.
