Drive a network of soaring bridges and submarine tunnels to two of the main islands in the seas surrounding Ålesund.

Our first stop is the saga island of Giske, the birthplace of the Viking chieftain Rollo. In 911 CE, Rollo invaded and founded Normandy. As the great-great-great grandfather of William the Conqueror, he also effectively sired the House of Normandy, which ruled England until 1135 CE. We’ll visit Giske Chapel, a 12th-century chapel built of white marble for one of Norway’s most powerful families.

After, we’ll drive beneath the sea to Godøy island, and the pretty fishing village of Alnes. Don’t miss the chance to take a photo of Alnes Lighthouse.

On our way back to Ålesund, we’ll stop at the Aksla viewpoint for coffee, cake, and panoramic views of the Sunnmøre Alps and the islands we’ve just visited. We’ll also see Ålesund, which we’ll find out more about on our way back to the ship.
