As the ship docks in Tromsø, the captivating sight of Tromsø Cathedral will come into view, directly above the harbour. From there, it’s only a few steps up to this city landmark, where you will receive the evening’s programme.

Before the concert begins, you’ll have the opportunity to admire this exquisite cathedral. Built in 1861 with timber from Målselv in Inner Troms, this neo-Gothic cruciform long church is notable as only Norwegian protestant cathedral made of wood. It’s as if the cathedral’s soft and pleasant acoustics were created especially for this magical midnight moment.

The musicians will then take you on a journey through Norwegian and Northern Norwegian musical history. You will hear hymns, folk tunes, songs, traditional Norwegian music, and indigenous Sami music focusing on the past, present, and future. The programme may differ somewhat from season to season but will always offer the same varied and comprehensive experience.
