Level 3: Active - good mobility needed
An overall good physical condition is needed to join this trip. As the weather can change quickly in the Northern Norway, everyone has to wear warm clothes - wind-proof jacket/trousers, hats and mittens on the tour.
This tour is an introduction into cross-country skiing for beginners. We ski in flat terrain, mostly on prepared trails on the top of the Tromsøya island, a short drive away from the city-centre. At first, we teach you how to put the skis on and off and then we begin to ski using basic techniques in a completely flat area. More techniques follow, and by the end of the tour you can challenge yourself on small hills. We ski toward the north part of the island in a scenic area with birch and spruce forests. After skiing we will take a break to sit down beside the bonfire and you will be served hot drink and lefse. You will have some time to ask your guide more about our nature, the Arctic or just everyday life in Tromsø. Biggest risk of this trip? After the tour you will most likely be able to practice new acquired skills on your own, and probably start thinking about coming back here again, for longer.

Walking information: Between 1 – 3km. Terrain is mostly flat with a small hill (5m or less), where we practice going up and down.
