We start with a walk through Ålesund. The town’s architecture is as colourful as it is beautiful and you can see Ålesund’s strong maritime traditions first hand. Wewillwalk to a localbrewerywhereweget to taste a selectionofbeers. On the way back to the ship we will pass the pedestrian zone and the picturesque fishing harbourBrosundet where the fishermen sell their catch directly from their boats.
The townwasruined by a fire onewinternight in 1904, leaving 10,000 peoplehomeless. During a periodofthreeyears, theentiretowncentrewasrebuilt in thisunique, Art Nouveau, style with a myriadofturrets, spires and medieval ornaments.
