Norway is known for its strong connection to the sea, and Ålesund is one of its fishing capitals. While you’re here, familiarize yourself with the striking coastal landscape and learn about the local sea life at the Norwegian Aquarium. The Norwegian Aquarium, or Atlanterhavsparken, is one of the most unique and interactive aquariums in Europe.
With more than 140,000 visitors each year, it’s one of the top attractions in this region. Here, you can observe and experience Norwegian sea life in educational and beautiful surroundings. The aquarium has a stunning location along the Atlantic Ocean, artfully built into the coastal landscape outside of Ålesund. Large landscape tanks filled with seawater directly from the sea give you the opportunity to observe a variety of fish, algae, and marine animals. Outdoors, you’ll have a chance to see otters, seals, and even Humboldt penguins—which aren’t native to this region, but are part of a European breeding program for endangered species.
Please note: This museum visit does not include a guide. Please present your cruise card at the entrance in order to get free entrance. The information texts in the Aquarium are in English and Norwegian.
