Join us on a scenic drive along Eyjafjörður with marvelous views of Akureyri and its surrounding mountains. Marvel at the beauty of Goðafoss – the ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ – where Norse religious relics were once thrown to symbolise the transition to Christianity. Visit the lava labyrinth of Dimmuborgir – the 'Black Fortress’ – and a thermal field with regular bursts of steam.  

Practical information: 

  • Remarks/requirements: Dress according to local weather conditions with good footwear (closed toe recommended) with a rubber or non-slip sole. Bring a camera! 

  • Walking information: ALL WALKING IS OPTIONAL and most sites can be viewed through the motor coach windows. There are no actual steps at most of the stops at the time of writing, but some inclined surface levels occur. Surface underfoot is grass/mud/gravel and there are rough pathways throughout. Anyone with mobility challenges is kindly asked to travel in the company of an able bodied career or request assistance from the ship.
