We board a Super 4x4 and start the tour at Djupivogur pier, driving towards beautiful Stafafell camping site. The Stafafell area is hiking heaven, with popular trails that take you through the incredible southeastern countryside. Stafafell offers amazing views of mountains, valleys and barren plains and it is abundant with bird species. Sometimes, one can spot reindeer grazing in the area.
From Stafafell, we‘ll continue our journey towards Hvannagil Canyon for a photo opportunity. Hvannagil is considered to be one of the most stunning canyons in Iceland, as it displays beautiful tints and hues of rhyolite and amygdale rocks. This is a special place for anyone interested in geology, since diverse and colourful geological formations dating back 5-7 million years characterise the area.
Continuing our tour, we will head towards Grenisgil Canyon where we will visit the very lovely Grenisgil Waterfall before we head on to Skutafoss Waterfall, a hidden cascade with a cave-in on one side. Here, you can walk close to the waterfall and take gorgeous photos. After visiting this cascade, we return to Djupivogur.
