With a very rich history of Celtic origin and subsequent Roman occupation, Gijon is today the Maritime capital which boasts of being the most alive city of the Principality of Asturias. Cheerful character and hospitality are identifying marks of local people funny nicknamed "wet bottoms" and whose anecdotes you will discover during the tour. Highlights on our walking tour: The old Fishermen Port, today Yatching Harbour -port of call of International Regattas-; the Queen's Gardens where the Queens of Spain Elisabeth, the II and Mary Christine Habsburg-Lorreine were officially received and where the Name of the City highlights since 2011, the design of some of its letters have special meanings that you will have to discover; the stunning Palace Revillagigedo from the 18th century, master piece of the Civil Architecture; the Main Square with its neoclassical City Hall, elegant arcades and the Asturias Hotel where the film Begin the Beguine was shot in 1981 -first Spanish film with an Oscar as non-english-speaking film-; the old Fish Market and he parish Church Saint Peter facing the sea, and the Royal Nautical Club open in 1911 under the Patronage of the King Alfons; the remains of the Roman Walls and the Roman Baths (from outside). Panoramic Sightseeing Tour along San Lorenzo Bay, The Queen Elisabeth Park, Molinón Football Stadium -first one in Spain-, the Hippodrome where the International Horse Jumping Competition takes place every summer.

Stop at Laboral City of Culture, the largest building in the whole country and the first Technical University in Spain, built in the fifties last century but inspired on different monuments from ancient times, which gives this spectacular construction a very interesting halo of antiquity. Currently called City of Culture, it hosts all kind of cultural and musical events throughout the year. Panoramic Sightseeing Tour through the Garden City where the local bourgeoisie from the 19th century settled towards the Providencia Viewpoint from where you will enjoy spectacular views of the whole city, the 2nd Northernmost point of Spain and even your cruise. The only difficult about this city is to pronounce its name, but the smell of sea and life together with the warm character of its people will make you feel like at home.
