Thanks to the writings of Latin authors, we know that cider was produced and consumed by the inhabitants of the Asturias region long before the Romans arrived.
You will be driven to a traditional cider mill, where you discover the complete process of cider making. You will visit the facilities accompanied by a member of a family that has worked here for three different generations. You see one of the apple orchards, learn how cider is made and see where it is refined. By the end of the tour, you will realize how Asturian cider is unique, due to its flavour and the way it is served.
During this excursion you will enjoy an 'espicha', an informal traditional lunch that the local rural people once had at the cider mills. Standing around chatting, surrounded by barrels and tasting cider. It was how a town’s friends and neighbours came together before collaborating in the various tasks of making cider. Enjoy your ‘espicha’ before returning to the port.
