Step back in time as you arrive at your destination, the picturesque, colonial city of Granada, located in the shadow of the towering Mombacho Volcano on the shore of Lake Nicaragua (one of country’s largest freshwater lakes). Founded in 1524 by Spanish Conquistador Hernandez de Cordoba, Granada’s historic churches and convents have withstood the test of the centuries including invasions from English, Dutch and French pirates.

Disembark and enjoy a delightful and informative guided tour through the city to admire the ornate cathedral and the “Central Park” where the locals meet everyday day. You will also have the opportunity to explore the remote corners of the city for colorful, "casonas" the large, strikingly beautiful Spanish and colonial-style houses with large inner patios that give the city its nickname "The Great Sultana". Stop by the Parque Central, the city’s social, cultural and economic hub, where local artisans and vendors offer their beautifully crafted products for sale. Be sure to have your cameras at the ready because as you journey back to your ship, you will be treated to a brief stop at the awe-inspiring La Virgen Crossing which offers a breathtaking view of Maderas and Concepcion, majestic twin volcanoes that together make up the island of Ometepe on Lake Nicaragua.
