Sonsonate is one of the most relevant cities in terms of history in El Salvador, founded in 1553 by the Spanish conquers as “Villa de la Santísima Trinidad” (Holy Trinity Ville) for many years it was part of Guatemala until the annexation to El Salvador in 1823.
Enjoy a walking tour to the main plaza discovering the hidden religious heritage of the country. Appreciate the conservation of some of the best traditions and original art of the religious altars which amaze all visitors. Learn about the daily life of the inhabitants and the hidden history of the city.
At the end of this adventure, we will visit what used to be the first ever Railway system of this area. The first station was built in 1882, a beautiful venue surrounded by nature and history where you will be able to enjoy a local coffee.
Last, take a short touristic train and go back in time to the way Salvadoran´s ancestors used the city public transportation.
