Bamboo rafting in this area first began as a way to transport bananas to the coast. Today, it’s a popular tourist activity and a memorable and peaceful way to experience Port Antonio’s nature.

This tour begins with a scenic drive to the Rio Grande, with opportunities for sightseeing along the way. Board your long 30ft bamboo raft and meet your raft captain, who will pole you down the river while you sit back, relax, and take in the beautiful river valley. Along the way, learn about local folklore, history, and the plants and animals in this area.

In addition to the spectacular nature, you’ll catch a glimpse of everyday life along the river: swimmers spearing fish, women doing laundry, or children playing along the banks.

At the end of this 2-3 hour river journey, you’ll find changing rooms, restrooms, and a restaurant where you can purchase lunch or a cold drink before returning to the ship.
