In 1980 much of Iona came into the care of the National Trust for Scotland. The famous Abbey and related buildings are in the care of Iona Cathedral Trust. This walk explores the history, wildflowers, wildlife, stunning views, geology and maybe even the chance to hear the elusive corncrake calling from the fields and gardens. This circular walk goes along the coast and inland, taking in the geography of the island. A relatively easy walk along narrow roads and tracks with some uneven terrain and gentle uphill walking finishing off back at the jetty with time to look around the settlement and explore independently.
Remarks/requirements: Appropriate warm, layered, waterproof clothing and comfortable/sturdy walking boots.
