Dover Castle is an impenetrable fortress, much of which is hidden deep within the chalk of the White Cliffs.  No fortress in England boasts a longer history than Dover Castle and here you can enjoy 900 years of history in one place.  Commanding the shortest sea crossing between England and the continent, the site has served as a vital strategic centre since the Iron Age.

Begin your self- guided tour of the second level of tunnels; Operation Dynamo. These tunnels tell the thrilling story of the Evacuation of Dunkirk which was controlled and masterminded from the tunnels at Dover.

Next, discover the fabulous views from this magnificent cliff top location and explore this sizeable Castle complex at your leisure. Castle’s own information stewards are on hand for questions and assistance throughout your visit. Immerse yourselves in the Castle's wealth of history through a range of exciting exhibitions designed to take guests back in time.  Spend time in the Castle itself with its Inner Bailey, Arthur’s Hall and Henry II’s Great Tower and/or explore over 80 acres of grounds featuring battlements; curtain walls and other military items.

Take time to see the medieval tunnels and visit the ‘secret’ underground hospital. Explore the many rooms of the hospital including reception (or triage), wards and the operating theatre as well as mess rooms and dormitories. Ponder what it might have been like for people to be in these very tunnels and appreciate how much the heroes did to win our freedom.

After your fascinating visit to the castle re-board your coach for the return journey to Dover.
