Explore the abandoned settlement of Unga Village and see the harsh beauty of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands. Should conditions allow, we will make a nature landing in the area. Disembarking on a small boat on a solitary coast is the essence of expedition travelling.  No port, no inhabited settlements and no vehicles. Only raw nature, infinite landscapes, and untamed wildlife. No filters of any kind. The real pleasure of exploring the environment with the open mind of the pioneers, of discovering the world as it used to be. Walk among the abandoned wooden buildings that now stand only as monuments to the community that once called this place home. Nature has reclaimed the area in its entirety, with the remains of the buildings rising from a carpet of grasses and pink louseworts.

At Hurtigruten we have the best team of guides and naturalists, the highest safety measures and the strictest environmental protocols to protect the land whilst ensuring an unforgettable experience.
