Tromsø has been known as the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ and a base for intrepid polar explorers since the late 19th century. The Polar Museum preserves and conveys the history of famous explorers, trappers, and expeditions.
You’ll learn the stories of adventurers Henry Rudi and Wanny Woldstad, find out about Fridtjof Nansen’s Fram expedition, and discover Roald Amundsen’s attempt to conquer the geographic North Pole.
