Inca History, Colonial Highlights & the Panama Canal
Inca History, Colonial Highlights & the Panama Canal
Come with us on an expedition cruise that kicks off with a sailing through the man-made marvel of engineering, the Panama Canal before visiting cities and resort towns in Ecuador, Peru and Chile.
Weather along the Pacific coast can sometimes affect our plans. If that happens, don’t worry, it’s part and parcel of the expedition experience. We pride ourselves in giving you the safest and most thrilling experience depending on what’s happening that day.
The Panama Canal, Beaches and Bananas
Your journey starts with an overnight in Colón, before spending the next day transiting the full length of the Panama Canal. Once through, we sail south with our course set for Manta and the nearby handicraft town of Montecristi where Panama hats were first created and are still handmade today. Later, we arrive at Puerto Bolivar, known as the banana capital of the world. Here, you might have an opportunity to visit a local plantation, a nature reserve or a petrified forest.
Inca History, Ancient Mysteries and UNESCO-sites
Lima is Peru’s lively capital and known as “The City of Kings”. You can visit its historic centre and enjoy delicious meals made from centuries-old recipes and fit for royalty. The shores of the Ballestas Islands near Paracas have a plethora of wildlife, and you may even visit the mysterious Nazca Lines from here. Then enjoy the beautiful seaside resort cities of Arica, Iquique and La Serena before ending your cruise in colourful Valparaíso.
