Hurtigruten’s maritime employees work hands-on to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
Hurtigruten’s business is highly seasonal and employment opportunities vary in line with that situation. We employ many people in maritime positions, which are subject to many regulatory and qualification requirements. You can see the minimum qualification requirements for each of the different categories of roles here.
If you meet the eligibility requirements, we welcome an application from you.
Your application should include a brief description of yourself. It should also explain what type of job you are looking for and why you want to work at Hurtigruten. You should also attach a copy of your CV.
You do not need to send us copies of your certificates and diplomas when you apply. We will we ask for that information later, if it becomes relevant. For applicants to machine and on deck positions, we do want to see a copy of your safety course certification.
Hurtigruten sails the following stretch: Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen. Each round trip takes 11 days. Our maritime employees work in shifts of 22 days on board, followed by 22 days ashore. For every day on board, you earn one day off. This means that you get paid for the 22 days that you are at home during your free period. Please see the tariff agreement for more information.
All employees working on our ships must have an approved and valid medical certificate from an authorized seafarer's doctor.
You will receive specific work wear on board that is appropriate to the job you are employed to. For further information, please contact your department manager aboard.
Travel Expenses from / detachment port.
Hurtigruten covers your travel expenses by the most reasonable means of travel within Norway.
Your detachment harbour will be agreed with the head of department on board.
